I only use Microsoft Word when I have to. It’s a heavy-weight application and has about 999 more features than I need! I usually write with Markdown and let the theme take care of formatting for me.
Developers and Product people, please remember the KISS Principle💋 and have empathy for your users.
The Gripe
I rarely use a word processor, but when I do, it’s Microsoft Word ;-)
I am not a pro user — I am curious why it’s impossible to select a page (left-hand column) and delete it. It’s bizarre and not intuitive.
The official documented solution (macOS) is to go through four steps of nonsense:
Click or tap anywhere in the page you want to delete, press Option+⌘+G.
In the Enter page number box, type \page.
Press Enter on your keyboard, and then select Close.
Verify that a page of content is selected, and then press Delete on your keyboard.
The Solution
I think the solution is simple, and I’m curious why it hasn’t been implemented. There must be a reason?
Select page 👉 Right-click 👉 Select Delete page
Select page 👉 Press the delete key
The first version of Word for Windows was released in November 1989 at a price of USD $498 …
🤔 As an aside, can you imagine spending over one thousand USD for Word today?
Adjusted for inflation, $498 in 1989 is equal to $1,076 in 2021.
Annual inflation over this period was 2.44%.
